Big Bend on the Big Manistee

This is one of the finest vantage points for the Big Manistee River that I know of, on a rugged stretch of trail that my friends and I have long referred to as the "14 mile two-track". This particular river configuration will likely change, as bank erosion, a completely natural process, eventually breaches the peninsula that creates today's "big bend". When that happens, the big bend will enter a new evolutionary chapter, perhaps becoming a richly diverse wetland. Whatever happens, the forces of nature are at work, constantly redefining the river's path.
